The Board will no longer mail renewal notices and will instead mail a reminder postcard to all license and permit holders. Reminder postcards are mailed approximately 90 days prior to the expiration date. If a renewal postcard is not received, please visit the BreEZe webpage at www.
Renewals will no longer be accepted by mail. License and permit holders are responsible for renewing regardless of having received the renewal postcard or not.
If you experience technical difficulties while registering in the new BreEZe system, contact the Help Desk at or breEZe dca. Renewals completed online are immediate unless deficient.
The pocket license should be received in approximately business days. Note: Fingerprinting for the Board is only required once. Please keep in mind that the processing time of hard copy renewals can take weeks in addition to the time for the postal service to deliver it. Note: It is the licensee who is ultimately responsible for renewing his or her license on time prior to its expiration to continue to legally practice dental hygiene.
The status of a particular license but not the status of applicants until they are actually licensed can also be checked on the internet by visiting our license status web page. If the required renewal fee is not postmarked on or before the date of expiration, the license is expired.
On the renewal form, the licensee must certify, under penalty of perjury, whether the license is being renewed in an active or inactive status, or if it is the first time renewing. You must answer the conviction disclosure question and survey. NO continuing education units are required for the first renewal period. For information about continuing education requirements, go to the Continuing Education section below. A license that has been expired for more than five years is automatically cancelled, and cannot be renewed, reinstated restored or reissued.
However, you must complete 50 hours of continuing education including applicable mandatory courses every two years, and pay the reduced license renewal fee. If you select retired inactive status, you can no longer offer dental services, including the prescribing of medication. You must still pay reduced renewal fees, but are exempt from the continuing education requirement. The granting of a waiver shall be at the discretion of the board, and the board may terminate the waiver at any time.
A licensee to whom the board has granted a waiver shall not engage in the practice of dentistry unless and until the licensee pays the current renewal fee in full and establishes to the satisfaction of the board on the required form signed under penalty of perjury that the licensee's disability either no longer exists or no longer affects his or her ability to safely practice dentistry. You must use a credit card.
